Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to determine the importance and role of customs authorities in ensuring national economic interests in Russia’s foreign trade. The authors have attempted a methodological and instrumental justification of the use of Russian customs regulation in the context of geo-economic transformation. The role of customs authorities and the impact of their activities in achieving national economic interests are determined. The effectiveness of customs authorities is an important instrument of the state’s economic policy, ensuring a balance between protecting national interests, ensuring economic security and the interests of the commercial sector. Effective activity of customs authorities contributes to the development of foreign trade in balance with national economic interests, but at the same time a complex and dynamically developing system is being formed that requires in-depth scientific analysis and practical adaptation to geo-economic transformation processes. The authors have revealed that the introduction of digital technologies opens up wide opportunities for the Russian customs authorities to increase efficiency, transparency and competitiveness, moving towards a «smart customs» model combining automation, analytical technologies and international integration, so further progress in this direction can be safely expected in the future. The changing structure of foreign trade, sanctions restrictions and new supply routes have created a set of new problems, ranging from technical to legal. Nevertheless, in these circumstances, the introduction of modern trends and technologies such as digitalization, risk management and international cooperation are gradually increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of customs authorities in carrying out their duties.
