КОМПЛЕМЕНТАРНОСТЬ ОРГАНИЗАЦИОННОЙ МОДЕРНИЗАЦИИ И ТЕХНОЛОГИЧЕСКИХ ИННОВАЦИЙ В РОССИЙСКОЙ ОБРАБАТЫВАЮЩЕЙ ПРОМЫШЛЕННОСТИ: ЭМПИРИЧЕСКИЙ АНАЛИЗ НА МИКРОДАННЫХ

Abstract:
This article presents an empirical study of the individual and combined effects of technological innovation and organizational modernization on the profitability of manufacturing firms in Russia. Based on data from the 2018 HSE survey, a composite index of organizational modernization (OMI) combining five management practices was constructed for the first time, and a formal test of complementarity was conducted using the ordered probit method. The results showed that technological innovations and organizational modernization individually significantly increase profitability. However, instead of the expected reinforcing effect, a statistically significant mutual weakening effect was found, consistent with the results of foreign studies. An analysis of marginal effects revealed nonlinear dynamics with an inversion at high levels of organizational modernization. The results are robust across three of the four alternative specifications. Practical recommendations for management and industrial policy are formulated. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the development of a composite index of organizational modernization based on five indicators from the HSE survey and the conduct of a formal complementarity test not previously applied to Russian industrial micro-data. Nonlinear dynamics of marginal effects with an inversion at OMI>=4 were identified, and cross-industry differences were described. The practical significance of the study consists in justifying the expediency of sequential rather than parallel implementation of organizational and technological innovations, as well as the need to account for the organizational maturity of enterprises when designing industrial policy programs.
